Scientists from New Zealand has developed the first AI politician that can answer to queries regarding political issues such as education, immigration, policies around housing, etc.
This virtual politician was created by Nick Gerritsen, 49 years old who is an entrepreneur in New Zealand. This first-ever Facebook Messenger chat bot was created as a representative who listens to people’s problems and responds to their queries with facts and policy positions.
“There is a lot of bias in the ‘analogue’ practice of politics right now,” said Gerritsen. “There seems to be so much existing bias that countries around the world seem unable to address fundamental and multiple complex issues like climate change and equality,” he said.
As of now the AI system is not that perfect, but it may still help in bridging growth in political and cultural ways for different countries. But by 2020, Gerritsen believes that SAM will be fully advanced and will be capable to run in New Zealand’s general elections.
