As Google’s I/O was to kick off this week, Google reveals the best apps and games for last year that won the battle at the Google Play Awards 2018.
This is the third version of the Google I/O award and the competition for the top apps was carried out across nine categories, where apps not only proved to be delightful and rich in user experience but also made a great impact in the community.
The Indian e-commerce site Flipkart won the Standout Build for Billions Experience award for its optimized-performance and localization, by beating nominees like CricBuzz, Mercado Libre, Moovit, and Viki. Other apps that topped the list include Khan Academy which was awarded the Best Social Impact award, and Simple Habit becomes the Standout Well-Being App.

Compared to the last year, there were so many new categories added for the awards, while several traditional categories like separate awards for AR & VR, categories of Android Wear, Best Multi-Player Game, Android TV, Best Apps for Kids etc. were missing.
